Traveling actually gives you energy and happiness, but many travels to different places as stress buster and load decreasing ninja technique!! Today we are going to tell a special place in India which looks like England or Switzerland!!

Ooty, this is the place which is located on top hills and ranges!!! This city climate is very cold!! It’s like you are in an AC room. In the evening itself you feel the moist air and fog falling!! Here you do not get Ola or Uber, also not any food supplying companies like Zomato and Swiggy!!

To travel alround Ooty and nearby places which you must never miss, in your budget, follow these tips!!!

Book a room before you reach Ooty:

It is suggested by me personally to book rooms from any website and then confirm it with the hotel management itself before you land Ooty. Sometimes, even if you have booked rooms, they will allocate the room for others who visit them, so confirm your booking.

Try booking budget-friendly rooms, also see the distance of the room from the city center. If you can’t bear cold you can request a  room heater so book a room which has a room heater, also which has hot water for the bath, because you feel tap water as ice cold.

Book cabs from local drivers:

You will not be able to rent or book cabs or cars from Ola, Uber, Zoom cars, also renting two-wheelers is not legal in Tamil Nadu. So book your cabs, near Bus Station itself (but be careful about price hiking there).

Also, many drivers have their small tourist companies and they own their own website, apps, etc,. but I personally prefer ‘Ooty Apple Cabs’ as they are professional and also charge less price compared to others.

Food facilities:

As there, you not get a delivery service of food normally, and also if you get you to have to wait for at least one and a half hours.

At night after 7, you won’t get that too, as the people there sleep early and close their shops early. Have food before itself, but many rooms serve your food locally from the neighboring houses or small hotels.

Make a route plan:

Normally, the drivers give you a better route plan for different places, but if you need special visits better plan it before itself.

Chocolate And Tea Land:

You get lots of chocolate selling shops and factories too, but do not waste your money spending to buy it in big factories, because many small shops serve you better tasty chocolates for less price.

The same will be good for tea powders and special oils. Even in factories, they have an amusement park, which is not worth it, if you are planning a budget-friendly tour, but if you have enough money you ‘can’ visit there.

 Apparel Shopping:

For buying clothes and sweaters you better visit the Tibet market, which is in front of Government Botanical Garden. Remember the price is fixed no bargaining, but the quality of clothes is awesome.

Don’t Miss Steam Engine Train:

The Nilgiri Mountain Railway is a steam engine train that runs between Mettupalayam and Ooty via Coonoor in Tamil Nadu. In India, this is the only one-meter gauge, rack railway. This toy train is the attraction in the Nilgiri mountains which attracts lots of people across the world.

This train was established in the early 19th century during the British by the summer headquarters of the Madras (now known as Chennai/TamilNadu) government.  The construction work started in  1899 and was completed in 1908. This Railway was declared as UNESCO World Heritage site in 2005 for its unique style. It is suggested to book train tickets first because the seats are limited. Only one toy train service operates on the Nilgiri Mountain Railway from Mettupalayam to Ooty per day. There are seven stations along the route.

The timetable is as follows:

🚆  The train 56136/Mettupalayam-Ooty MG Passenger train leaves from Mettupalayam at 7:10 A.M. and enters Ooty at noon of the same day.

🚆  Returning train 56137/Ooty-Mettupalayam MG Passenger train leaves Ooty at 2 P.M. and arrives at Mettupalayam at almost 5:35 P.M.

Do not miss Wild Safari:

After visiting Mettupalayam, Coonoor, And Ooty finally it’s time to visit, wildlife safari where all three states, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, and Kerala share their borders in these thick forests.

Here you can see Deers, Elephants, Peacock, Mulefoot and sometimes, Bison, Languor, and Leopard too. If you visit in the evening do not miss the elephant camp where you can see the feeding of elephants which is free if you have safari tickets with you.

Hair Pin Bends:

This the road carved on hill ranges, but it is not allowed for outside passengers, but traveling in these roads is only allowed to localities,(because this road is dangerous and have faced lots of deaths because of accidents) if you travel with “Ooty Apple Cabs” they take you through this road.

Have Camera with you:
