Trade getting disrupted, suspension of all the professional activities, events, a halt on the daily working of the world economy, demand and supply fluctuations’ has put the people in great distress as those who were living their life on the daily wages are feeling helpless and forced to face hunger. This pandemic has brought the world on its knees.

In this tough time, our reel time heroes have turned out as real-time heroes for the common people. Not only monetarily but also mentally and emotionally, the renowned personalities across the world have come forward to help the people in the time of uncertainty and crisis.

The celebrities are continuously sharing their ideas and thoughts about this pandemic and ways to cope this time on the social sites giving their tips for helping to stop the spread of the Coronavirus.

⦁ Lata Mangeshkar donated Rs 25 Lakh –  

The veteran Indian singer has donated Rs 25 Lakh to the Chief Minister's Assistance Fund and posted the same on social site with a request to all that “we should help the government as much as possible in the fight against this pandemic”.

⦁ Angelina Jolie donated US$1 million –

The closure of US schools has left many students from low-income families without meals during the week, reacting to which actress Angelina Jolie donated US$1 to No Kid Hungry organization which works towards ending child hunger in the country.

⦁ Shah Rukh Khan pledged to provide the maximum possible support- 

SRK along with wife Gauri and business partners Juhi Chawla and Jay Mehta has contributed to the PM-CARES Fund through their IPL franchise Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR).

Shah Rukh and Gauri also made a donation to the Maharashtra CM's Relief Fund through their film banner Red Chillies Entertainment.

Moreover, KKR and Khan's NGO, Meer Foundation, supplied 50,000 Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to the Maharashtra and West Bengal governments for medical professionals.

Meer Foundation has also tied up with Ek Saath - The Earth organization to provide food to over 5500 families for a month in Mumbai. The 'Swades' star added that a kitchen will be set up to send out 2000 freshly cooked meals every day to help households and hospitals.

The actor’s organization, Meer Foundation is also providing 3 lakh meal kits to 10,000 to underprivileged people and daily wage workers daily in Mumbai, in association with the Roti Foundation.

Additionally, the Foundation is also working with Working People's Charter to provide essentials to over 2500 daily wage workers in Delhi for a month.

⦁ Hema Malini released a mammoth amount of Rs 1 crore –

Hema Malini, the renowned Indian actress who is also the BJP MP from Mathura, released a mammoth amount of Rs 1 crore from the MPLADS (Members of Parliament Local Area Development Scheme) funds for countering the virus and made her significant contribution in the relief fund.

⦁ Pop music superstar Lady Gaga raising funds –

Lady Gaga, with the charity music festival Global Citizen, has raised more than US$35 million, which will benefit WHO’s COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund.

⦁ Ekta Kapoor passon a year's salary for employees –

The TV empress and filmmaker announced that she is refraining a year’s salary of Rs 2.5 crore. In a statement issued on social site, Ekta explained her reasons behind the decision which says - “It is my first and foremost responsibility to take care of the freelancer and daily wage workers who work at Balaji Telefilms and who are going to suffer immense losses due to no shooting in the current scenario and uncertainty in the indefinite period to follow”. 

⦁ Akshay Kumar pledged to donate Rs 25 crore – 

Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar pledged to donate Rs 25 crore in the fight against the coronavirus pandemic.

Adding to the list Salman Khan pledged to financially support 25,000 daily wage workers from the film industry, Nana Patekar and Indian singer and rapper Badshah donated Rs 50 lakh and Rs 25 Lakh to the PM CARES fund respectively, actress Shilpa Shetty Kundra has pledged to donate a sum of Rs 21 lakhs to PM-CARES Fund.
