Kesari box office collection of the first day: Akshay Kumar's film is a winner

After giving back-to-back super hits in 2018 - R Balki's Pad Man, Reema Kagti's Gold and Shankar's 2.0, Akshay Kumar rebounded with war-drama Kesari that bangs the screens on Holi, this year. The film had a bounteous opening and doesn't predict to be slowing down anytime soon.
Kesari collected Rs 21.50 crore on its first day, building it the biggest opener of the year so far. The film has acquired glowing reviews from critics and the audience similarly. According to early predictions, the film is expected to scrape up around Rs 23 crore on its second day.
Kesari escalated in 4,200 screens across the world. It is running to overloaded theatres in 3,600 screens across the country.
Directed by Anurag Singh, Kesari features Akshay as Havildar Ishar Singh, who headed the 36th Sikh Regiment of the British Indian Army in the Battle of Saragarhi, which was battled in 1897. The film showcases the powerful story of 21 Sikh soldiers fighting fearlessly against 10,000 Afghan troops. Parineeti Chopra acted as Ishar Singh's wife and has a guest appearance.
A critic of India Today Samrudhi Ghosh applauded Akshay's performance in Kesari and called him "the proverbial glue that holds his regiment and the movie together". Giving the movie 3 out of 5 stars, she wrote in her critique, "Kesari is the patriotic film that Akshay Kumar fans wait for all year round. But it is a lot more than just that and deserves a watch this Holi festival."
